Set up your dog's profile

  1. Open the planner and choose Add your first dog. A name is enough to start.
  2. Add a date of birth or estimate and choose Life stage if useful. The stage can be changed later.
  3. Choose an optional JPG, PNG or WebP photo and wait for processing before saving.
  4. Contacts and care details are optional. Save, check the dashboard, then keep a JSON backup.

Quick toilet logging & Undo

  1. Check the selected dog and optional carer name before logging.
  2. Use Outside · now or Indoor accident · now for the current local date and time. Read the actual save feedback.
  3. Open Toilet notes to review a recorded daily timeline or choose an earlier day. New now-notes still use the current date.
  4. Undo removes the latest quick note and names its dog, outcome and time. Edit details makes other corrections. Missing notes are not evidence that nothing happened.

Feeding, routines & care records

  1. In Daily care, add a care routine and choose Daily, Weekly or One-off. Enter its start date and, for Weekly, its weekday.
  2. Add the person and instructions you already use. The planner does not decide feeding quantities or clinical schedules.
  3. Tick today’s task when complete. To reverse it, open Completed care and untick it. Correct name changes that completion’s name.
  4. Keep appointments, questions and instructions in Health & appointments, using information supplied by you or your professional.

Goals & linked practice

  1. In Training, add one goal for the selected dog and your chosen next small step.
  2. Choose a supportive stage yourself; this is not an automatic skill assessment.
  3. Choose Log practice on that goal. Its dog and goal link are carried into the practice form.
  4. Save your observations, then use See linked practice to review sessions. Change the stage when you choose.

Prepare & print a sitter handover

  1. Review the dog profile’s feeding, comfort and contact details first.
  2. Add or open a Sitter stay for the correct dog and dates, then choose View handover.
  3. Review the full sheet and choose whether to include contacts and house/access details. Microchip and policy references are excluded; inspect free-text notes yourself.
  4. Print / save PDF through the browser, inspect every page and verify emergency contacts before sharing with the intended carer.

JSON backup & safe restoration

  1. Use Back up or Backups & settings → Download JSON backup. JSON includes records, photos and care history.
  2. Check the actual file in Downloads and keep it safely outside the browser profile. A requested download cannot prove the file was kept.
  3. To restore, choose a Puppy & Dog Planner JSON backup. Validation happens before replacement is offered.
  4. Restore replaces this edition rather than merging. Preserve the current records, check that backup, and cancel if uncertain.
  5. After restoration, inspect the records and reopen the same local file in the same browser profile.
  6. If Session only appears, changes may be only in memory. Download and check a backup before refreshing or closing. There is no live multi-device household sync.

The planner organises your records and instructions. It does not provide veterinary advice. Customer and demo editions save separately where browser storage is available; keep regular manual JSON backups.
